« sometimes attracting out-of-province students. Sharon Bower, a busy Trenton painter, studio owner, and instructor, had early lessons with Cameron and has been painting intermittently with her for over 20 years. "She's probably my biggest influence, my biggest mentor," Bower said. "I love her fresh, impressionistic style. "She really, really wanted people to succeed," she recalled of Cameron's classes. "It was serious business. She taught by demonstration." Bower said Cameron always encouraged her pupils to motivate themselves by joining art associations and participating in exhibitions, and regularly gave one-on-one instruction during her classes. Bower said her own sister and daughter studied with Cameron. "She's touched many generations." Cameron still invites people to her garage studio to paint with her, and makes three quilts a year. Sitting in a chair by a window overlooking the Bay of Quinte, she does all the stitching and quilting by hand. Her art has won numerous awards, and Cameron says her creative work has become as much habit as hobby. "It's fun, but it's part of my life." . I Jf\YM\, NOV* (3/-OH P3 C | *
