attending Stirling Senior Public School. . Athletically, Julie Kay has vir- tually tried everything. This past year at Centennial, she ran cross country, captained the volleyball team, played badminton, soccer and is now readying for the out- door track season. As well as high school activities, Julie Kay spends her summers playing in the Belleville and District senior ladies soccer league and will also play for either Belleville Bombers or Lester's of the Belleville and District Ladies Softball League, after graduating from the Enright Ins. midgets. ' ' S h e ' s done j u s t a b o u t everything," coach Faulds said. ' 'She"'s a very talented athlete. If she had wanted to concentrate on just one sport she could have been exceptional in whatever she chose. - But she wanted to try everything and that's OK too." Faulds is pleased that she has accepted a scholarship to Camp- bell. "They run a good program," he said of Campbell. "And the kids come back with a university degree." Lang must enter a two-year general B.A. course before bran- ching out into a chosen field; in her case, physical education will be her major. "I'm not sure right now," she says of her future after Campbell. "But I'll be in the phys. ed. area of some sort, maybe not teaching." NOTES:...the full scholarship to Campbell was the major factor in accepting the offer considering the high cost of post-secondary educa- tion in Canada...Campbell has an a p p r o x i m a t e e n r o l m e n t of 5,000...Julie Kay is looking for a job this summer; last summer; because of the commitment to the Enright midgets and the team's success, she was unable to work...athletics isn't the only avenue for Julie Kay. In 1988 she was the Miss Stirling Fair Queen and represented Stirling at the CNE Fair Queen Pageant. In fact, just hours after the Enright midgets won their silver medal at the Canadians in New Brunswick, Julie Kay was on a plane to Toron- to to compete in the CNE Fair Queen Pageant...she was also one of the TORCH BEARERS during the Winter Olympics Torch Run in December of 1987 ...Julie Kay and mother Pat visited Buies Creek last month to check out the cam- pus...horses are another love. She owns one named LADY...other factors while attending a U.S. university is the necessity of an en- try visa and additional health in- surance for Ontario residents ...she won't be able to work of- ficially in the U.S. but hopes to get pocket money by refereeing and scorekeeping in intramural com- petition at Campbell.
