< Local author Ruth Howard (left) and Tonia Demczyna find themselves doing a lot of reading these days -- the two are collaborating on the life story of Demczyna, who was torn from her family in the Soviet Union at the age of 15 and sent to Germany to work in a labor camp. The horrors she experienced during her imprison- ment are now being recounted in the manuscript, titled, From East to West. Howard said two-thirds of the book is with a publisher and she and Demczyna would like to see the pro- ject completed later this year. 31 (
