Gray, 56, who left his job as a radio advertising salesman with CJBQ last spring to kayak from Prince Edward County to the Florida Keys, is scheduled to fly into Syracuse, N.Y. today at 3 p.m., his wife, Betty, confirmed Thursday. She is going to meet him there. His kayak is already in Toronto and could be shipped to Gray's home today or tomorrow, cour- tesy of Atlas Van Lines and A.M.J. Campbell Van Lines. Arrangements for the transportation of the kayak were made by Dave Grainger, who works for Vanguard Moving and Storage in Calgary, which is associated with Atlas. Grainger's son is married to Gray's daughter. Robin Whalen, of A.M.J. Campbell Van Lines and owner of the truck carrying Gray's kayak, agreed to transport the kayak for free. She and driver Darin Steeves were in Florida when contacted by Atlas and asked if they could help Gray. "We were in Florida anyway, so we just scooted down to the Keys to pick it -- down to Key Largo," says Whalen.
