Typical of many residents of the county, Mr. Graydon is of United Empire Loyalist stock. He registered ap- p r o x i m a t e l y 90,000 documents during a career which began on March 31, 1935 when as a deputy he received $90 a month, a salary which rose to $100 a" month when he was appointed registrar on March 11, 1936. JACK V. GRAYDON ...46 years service committee for any need- ed Registry Act changes or cons ide ra t ions . Salaries were always a contentious issue, par- ticularly for those in low registration volume of- fices. Because Mr. Graydon had to register, abstract, and prepare any re- quested abstract of titles, he had a personal and unfaltering awareness of the geographical layout of many parcels of land throughout the county and also a great awareness of the quality of many titles. In Mr. Male's summa- tion at the banquet he said 'The Picton office contains the most con- sistently neat and legible abstract books in the province. Many titles can be dealt with by members of the legal profess ion without recourse to lengthy title requisitions/' Mr. Hale said Mr. Graydon main- tained excellent quality control on document registration and provid- ed a superb document abstract entry standard that will benefit the system and the users for decades to come. Before presenting Mr. Graydon with a watch, the Dean of Eastern On- tario Land Registrars, Wendell Stanley, said that 46 years in the Prince Edward County registry office is an en- viable record that few people, if any, will ever duplicate. i ; •
