I Belleville Man Named Markle Scholar Dr. .ET^Johnt H i n 6 h ey , F.R.C.S.(C), Assistant Surgeon, Department of Surgey, The Montreal General Hospital and son of Mr. and Mrs, W. J. Hinchey, 10 Elmer St., in this city, has been named a Markle Scholar in Academic Medicine by the John and Mary R. Markle Foundation of the United States. Dr. Hinchey received his award in New York on March 30th. Dr. Hinchey, who obtained his M.D., C.M., from Queen's Uni- versity, Kingston, in 1959, and his M.Sc. from McGill in 1963, also holds the appointment of Associate Director, University Surgical Clinic, The Montreal General Hospital, He is an As- sistant Professor of Surgery at i McGill University and also a Lecturer in the University's De- partment of Physiology. Formerly a Fellow of the Medical Research Council, Dr. Hinchey took his postgraduate training at The Montreal Gen- eral Hospital and the Depart- ment of Physiology at McGill and was appointed to the At- tending Staff of the Hospital in July, 1965.
