Mabel Ray Ireland, ^'6 Marmora Street, died at her home on Tuesday follow- ing an illness which began shortly after Christmas last year. She was in her 73rd year. Mrs. Ireland, the former Mabel Ray Adam, was the wife of William H. Ireland, former member of the provincial par- liament for Hastings South for about 23 years. Mr. and Mrs, Ireland were to have observed their golden wed- ding anniversary next Wednes- day. They were married in a Methodist Church in Niagara Falls, N.Y., on July 2, 1908. Mr. Ireland credited his wife: with much of his political sue-! cess in the Progressive Conser- vative party. Mrs. Ireland was always ready and eager to assist in any way her husband's ca- reer as a politician. Born in Trenton, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob j Adam, Mrs. Ireland received most of her education in Ni- agara Falls, N.Y., but received some o=f it in Trenton. She liv- ed most of her Mfe in Trenton, Where she acquired a large cir- cle of friends and took an ac- tive part in the activities at King Street United Church. She was a member of the Woman's | Auxiliary of the ctarch and was i noted for her artistic talents! when decorating tea tables for: W.A. functions. Mrs. Ireland was interested in art, having hand-painted a dinner set her- self and a number of pictures, which she kept in her home. Besides her husband, Mrs. : Ireland leaves one daughter, iMrs. William (Eleanor) Navan of Ottawa, and two sons, Wil- liam and Bruce, both of Tren- ton and partners in Ireland's Drag Store here.
