Mr!, Mrs. Tlayton Istead Happfly We<jj%Jpars ^ _^' - -- - _PICTON--The hall at Hillie'r* was enfete on the occasion of the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Istead who reside at R 2 Consecon There were 76 guests present to mark the auspicious occasion and to felicitate the esteemed couple. They recalled that on Jan. 29, fifty years ago, there was no snow, a contrast to that in evidence on this occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Istead were married in Bloomfield by Rev. Wesley Elliott and spent their honeymoon in Oshawa. The attendants were Harold Bovay and ' Carrie Istead. She was formerly Edna Marshall, daughter of David and Ida Marshall and was born on June 30, 1894. Mr. Istead was born on Aug. 11, 1885. After their marriage they liv- ed on a farm near Bloomfield, | retiring two years ago. Mr. Istead is a member of L.O.L. 175 at Allisonville. They are ad- herents of the United Church. Their family consists of Mrs. Phyllis Phillips, Bloomfield; Mrs. Freda Fox, Wellington, Clifford at home; Mrs. Myrtle Pearson; Mrs. Evelyn Henry, Belleville; Mrs. Verna Lang- staff, West Huntingdon. His brother and sisters are Erastus Istead, Mrs. Ada Baker of Ham- ilton; Mrs. Harold Bovay, R 2 Consecon. Her brothers and sisters are Mrs. Gussie Rose- bush, Picton, Herbert Marsh- all, Ameliasburg, Henry Marsh- all, Bloomfield. Streamers and flowers decor- ated the hall and the tea table was centred with the annivers- ary cake topped by a miniature gold cup. Cards and dancing were enjoyed. Refreshments were served to guests from Am- eliasburg, Wellington, Belleville, Picton, Burr's, West Hunting- don by eight granddaughters and five grandsons. During the evening, an ad- dress was read by Mrs. Fred Way and Ronald Hough made the presentation of an easy chair and other gifts as a tangible momento of the occasion and as an expression of esteem and good wishes. They also received a framed certificate from the Ontario Government. Mr. and Mrs. Istead suitably acknow- ledged the kindness shown by family and friends. , U -
