I t Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Johnston t V^ c > % 3 , 60th anniversary Nearly 200 guests gathered at the Recrea- tion Centre, Kenron Estates, to honor Wilfred and Vera Johnston on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary on March 6. The couple were mar- ried March 3, 1923, at the Rawdon parsonage in Stirling by Rev. J. Batstone. Miss Lulu Sarles (Mrs. Henry Bur- rell) of Foxboro was bridesmaid, and the groom's brother, the late Matthew Johnston, was best man. The couple have three children, Jerry Johnston, Kenron Estates, Mrs. Bruce (Doreen) Kemp of Kenron Estates, and Mrs. Ernie (Joan) Tuck of King George Square. They also have 11 grand- children and eight great grandchildren. Guests attended the an- niversary party from Peterborough, Lakefield, Marmora, Mounta in V i e w , C o r b y v i l l e , Frankford, Trenton, Stirling, Harrowsmith, Plainfield, Foxboro, Tweed and Belleville. Also attending the party were the couple's church ministers, Rev. and Mrs. Hair and Rev. and Mrs. Truax. Mrs. Mary Cox of King George Square made the anniversary cake. A telegram was receiv- ed by the couple from Queen Elizabeth, and scrolls arrived from Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Premier Bill Davis, Mayor George Zegouras MP Jack Ellis, MPP Hugh O'Neil and MPP Jim Pollock. Following the open house, Wilfred and Vera spent the supper hour with daughter Doreen and son-in-law Bruce at Kenron Estates, when thei r great g rand- daughter, Tracey Wark, was celebrating her eighth birthday on March 6. She is the daughter of Howie and Sharon Wark. Tracey's other, great g r a n d m o t h e r , Mrs. Harry Kemp, made her birthday cake in the shape of a three-tiered heart.
