(Mickey) Mac- Donald, the new manager of the Corby Distillery Limited at Corbyville, was a sports- minded youngster when he joined th e organization that July 27th, 1926 Hi* played tMrd base for the ; Belleville junior baseball team and was considered one of its stars. H.is manager, the late Robert Colling, "begged" him off the first two Saturdays of employ- ment which caused the plant manager to observe, "Did we get a junior clerk or a base- ball plaver?" Mr. MacDonald has been with the distillery since those days, having run the gamut of change, depression and pro- gress. Now Jn his 37th year with the distillery Mr. MacDonald came up "the hard way." His i aptitude and adaptability gave him foo'-holds on the ladder of l success and he rose to the po- sition Oi office manager. In | 1945 he was made assistant; I manager to Mr. Wilfrid La- j porte. He was born in Belleville.; I the son of the late Mr. and \ ! Mrs. George MacDonald and : received his public and high | school education here. He played softball and base- ball as a junior and later be- came a member of the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club. He is a member of the Belle- ville Shrine Club which he joined ten years ago and at present is a director. He has ! been chairman of various com- mittees of the club and takes a keen interest in the Shrine work for crippled children. Mrs. MacDonald is the form- er Miss Vera Ibey, an athlete in her 3wn right. Mrs. Mac- Donald was a pitcher of repute and with Mrs. Dolly Canning formed one rf the girl "bat- teries" in the district. Mr. MacDonald enjoys a well deserved popularity with the distillery staff and other per- sonnel, as well as company as- sociates. The
