- A Belleville man who teaches at the University of Waterloo has won the first federal government prize for teaching excellence in Canadian studies. Dr. Stan McMullin, director of the university's Canadian studies program, received the $5,000 top prize. It was the first year for the awards, offered to elementary, secondary, community college and university teachers. Four winners were chosen from 65 candidates
