The judge who was seventy-four years of age, besides his wife, is survived by one daughter, Mrs. C.F. Bate of Brampton, and three sons, Dr. Lawrie of Galt, Ethelbert of St. Paul, and Walter of New York. The funeral was held to the Walkerton cemetery on Saturday afternoon. The late Judge Barrett began his law practice as a barrister in 1868. He was appointed junior judge of Bruce County in September, 1885, and became senior judge in April 1893. Had he lived to remain on the bench for two more years, he would then have been superanuated. He was a resident of Walkerton for more than forty years, having previously been in business in Durham.
