A six years illness of gangrene terminated on Wednesday morning of this week, at 9:30, in the death of Mr. Peter Fischer, one of the most prominent and earliest settlers of the Chepstow district. He was in his 83rd year.

The Late Mr. Fischer was born in Waterloo County, near Kitchener in November 1857, and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Fischer. When a young man in the year 1881 he came to Greenock and took over the farm on the 5th side line near Chepstow.

He lived for a considerable length of time on this farmer during which period he erected a house and barn on the hundred acres. Later he farmed for one year on Con 7. north of Chepstow, and then purchased the farm on the 5th concession of Greenock at what is known as the Ernewein school, 2 1/2 miles southeast of the villiage where he remained for the remainder of his life and where he passed away at 9:30 o'clock on Wednesday morning.

In 1885 he married Miss Anne Waechter, a sister of Mr. John F Waechter of Walkerton, who survives with a family of three sons and two daughters, (Incomplete)
