David Heffernan Passes On.
In the death of Mr. David Martin Heffernan, which occurred at Dundas on Thursday, July 14th, a pioneer resident of Walkerton passes on in his 80th year. The deceased, who was raised in Walkerton, was the last of a trio of brother, Patrick, Harry and David Heffernan, the former of whom played a particularly active part in the progress and development of the town. David who spent the meridian of his life in Detroit, returned to Walkerton in his declining years and resided with his nephew, Mr. Jim Heffernan, prior to leaving for Dundas a few years ago. His reminiscences of the early days in Walkerton, which went back to the period when this place was dubbed by non-admirers as "Rogue's Hollow" were both interesting and amusing, if not always edifying in the extreme. Genial, happy and contended in all kinds of weather, David passes on leaving behind him many friends in the old town that will hold him in kindly remembrance
