The late Mrs. Hickling, whose maiden name was Matilda Ayers was born in England in 1834 and came to Canada with her parents 65 years ago settling near Elora. Shortly afterwards they moved to Carrick and in 1855 the deceased was married to Mr. Edward Hickling. They settled on the 12th con of Carrick.

She is survived by one son, Mr. T.H. Hickling on the old homestead in Carrick, and one daughter, Mrs. Cousins of Walkerton. She is also survived by three brothers. E.D. Ayers, formerly a merchant of Walkerton now of Minneapolis, and Chas and Robt Ayers of St. Claude, Minn. and one sister Mrs. Carter also of St. Claude.
