wHITSY FREE PRESS, Wednesday, October 2Oth, 1971, Page 9 ELECTION SPECIAL Authorized by Ontario South NDP Ontarlo South New Democrat WING CAMPAIGN SURGES AHEAD SERVICE TO ONTieARN10SOUTH FIRST PRIORITY Bob Wing cares about ail of you who make up Ontario' South. Ail of you deserve con- cerned representation in the Ontario Legislature. Bob Wing believes that an MPP has a responsibility to keep in close touch with the people he represents. Bob Wing pledges: & To be a fuil-time MPP e To send regular reports from Queen's Park, with emphasis on legistation affecting the people of Ontario South 0 To open a commun ity re- ferrai clinic, designed to help ail constituents with their prcOMems. Hundreds of Volunteers Win Enthusiastic Response The Bob Wing election campaign is gaining fantastic momentum: well over 2,000 householders have already put Wing election signs on their Iawns or in their windows to show support for their candidate. More than 150 volunteer canvassers have been sys- temnatically knocking on doors in Ontario South to talk to voters about election issues and sound out voter opinion. This time the prospects are exciting. A New Democratic surge is rising ail over Ontario and this is particularly true in Ontario South. Once more the NDP is getting dloser to the voter than any other party. 'Jolunteers wiII have visited every home by the end of the campaign, with informative election material. Most important of ail, the NDP canvassers are working wholeheartedly for their'candidate, Bob Wing. And from their dedicated door-knocking they are bring- ing the word back to their commnittee rooms: BOB WING IS WINNINGANDTHE VOTERSAREWITH HlM. ,Boàb Wing wilI make an outstanding MPP The Issues? They're there. They're real A new Ontario is what this campaign is ail about. An Ontario where peoples' needs have the f irst priority. Not an Ontario of tired institutions, promises in place of action, and a government which, after 28 years 'in office, stili has a l9th century approach to today fs probi ems. Don't let the other parties fool you into believing that there are really no issues in this campaigfl. There are. And they affect you directly. Regional Government. $840,000 has been spent on an Oshawa area planning and devel- opment study. The resuits have flot been implemented. Has any- one asked you what you think? VOTING FACTS ELECTION DAY IS THURSDAY OCTOBE R 21 POLLS OPEN 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. For information or assistance cali: Ajax -.- 942-8501 Bay Ridges - 839-4650 Whitby - 668-9811 Bob Wing believes that it is the people's right to decide whether or flot they want regional government. And they should decide by a vote. There is an alternative to regional govern- ment. Provincial grants to muni- cipalities for essential services would keep many of these municipalities independent. Low Cost Housing. There is no low cost housing in Ontario South between Scarborough and Oshawa. This despite the fact most small plants in the ridîng have low wage rates. Low cost housing and 10w rentai units must be built in Ontario South. Employment. 0f the industry in this area, 90e/o is foreign- owned and controiied. The Conservatives have given $125,000,000 to muiti-national corporations and yet, a decisiion made in a board room in another country tonight couid put you out of a job tomorrow. Cor- porate decisions affecting Canadians must be made here in Canada. Educational costs. Home- owners are staggering under the unfair load of education tax. A new Democratic government wouid shift 80%/ of educational costs on to the Province by adding 1% to corporate taxes a capital gains tax a heavier tax on resources ieaving the province. Auto insurance. The recently introduced Ontario plan does nothing to check rising insurance rates. A New Democratic govern- ment wili introduce in Ontai io a plan simîilar to those in Saskatch- ewan and Manitoba, where com- pensation will be paid, regardless of fauit. And where therewili be an end to costly, prolonged court batties for victims who are forced to fEght auto insurance com pan jes. Pollution. New Democrats want to curb pollution, not just measure it. An expanded Depart- ment of the Environment would move to protect those hardest hit by pollution - the ordinary people. Agriculture. Time's running out for the Ontario farmer. Every three hours an Ontario farmer gives up his farm. Those who remain earn barely a $1 an hour. New Democrats believe that the famnily farm must continue as the basic producing unit. A New Democratic goverfi- ment would legisiate against ownership by non-residents, re- strict the integration of large corporations into farmn produc- tion, and provide assistance to expand operations individually or through co-operative owner- ship. The issues are there. And they're real. For 28 long years it's been their Ontario. ON OCTOBER 21, MAKE IT YOUR ONTARIO. ELECT BOB WING, NEW DEMOCRAT, ONTARIO SOUTH. "Bob Wing wl/I make an outstand- ing MPP. He is young, energetic and talented and wM/ be a wvelcome addition to the Ontario Legisiature. He wiIl serve his constituents ,vII. - Ciiff Piikey, MPP, Oshawa. "In our area there are problems in housing, taxation and employment. With Bob Wing in the Legisiature people wlI get positive action at two levels of government. Bob Wing wl/I compte te the team. " -Ed Broadbent, MP, Oshawa-Whitby OCTOBER, 1971 On October 21, a vote for BOB WING is a vote for yourself
