OUR MAN AT QUEEN'S PARK By Willidm Newnun Doctor-Citizen "Health Court" Planned Plans are ready to set up a health court or tribunal to hear cifizens' com- plaints against physicians as recom- mended by the Ontario Committee on the Healing Arts last year. Legislationtoestablish such a tri- bunal for citizens and doctors dissat- isfied with decisions of other medical regulatory bodies will be prepared this autumn. The proposed tribunal ývould have overall jurisdiction and appeal f r o m t h e decisions of all individual self-governing health professions. The tribunal would also be con- cerned wi th the rights of citizens in r e I ation to t h e rights of every pro- fessional, with the power to make bin- ding decisions, subject only to the right of appeal to the courts. Assistance for Credit -Debt Councilling Agencies Social and Family Services Mini- ster Tom Wells has announced the as- sump t ion of respons ibil i ty by h is Dep- a r t m e n t f o r provision of grants to private credit-debt counselling agen- cies. These agencies provide remedial andpreventative counselling to people with money management problems and as intermediary between debtor an d credi tor in arranging paymen t of debts. There are credit-debt counselling ag- encies in Toronto, London, Brantford, Sarnia, Sault St. Marie, and Kingston. Two in Ottawa and St. Catharines have b e e n approved f o r ass istance. Mr. - Wells emphasized that guidance will be availabletocommunitieswishing to set up credit-debt counselling agencies, where there is a demonstrated need. Davis establishes Advîsory Committee Premier William Davis has an- nounced formation of an Energy Adv- isory Committee to undertake a com- prehensive review to ascertain Ont- ario's future energy requirements and s u p pl ies, and to recommend pol icies and means to ensure that these require- ments are met. The commi ttee will be headed by Mr. Stuar t Clarkson, Deputy Minister of t he Depar tmen t of Revenue, who has hiad an excel lent background in the en- ergy field, having served as Deputy- Min is ter in the Depar tmen ts of Ener gy and Resour ces Management and Econio- mics and Development. The commi ttee will include representatives from the coal, ail, natural gas and uranium in- d us tries, Ontario Hydro, Consumer interests, Task Force H ydro and the Federal Department of Energy, Mines and Resources.
