Page 6, Thursday, May 4, 1972, WHITBY FREE PRESS -Sports MOTORING with Mike Burgess Now that t h e warmer weather has f i n a I ly arrived, we must, as fellow motorists, take the bad with the good and recognize the added pitfalls the b e t t e r weather brings. Needless to say, navigating and driving an auto- mobile on ci tSy streets is a nerve- w racking challenge at the best of times without the added frustrations of playful children, wandering cyclists, hitch hikers who insist on standing ON the r o ad , sight-seeing drivers, and of course, the policeman picnic- i ng behind a bush with a little green box ! If you are one of the few driv- ers who does not know what that 'lit- tie green box' is for, consider your- self lucky, (but no points awarded).. . ontheotherhand, if you would like to find out, just drive over the speed 1lim- it and a man in blue will jump out and explain everything to you (I don't rec- ommend the1latter - it's rather costly, and can hurt the budget, which might mean spaghetti dinners instead of hamburgers). Anyway, beware of Spring Fever and don't relax behind the wheel. Un- expected situations can spring up in a second, and if you're not looking you m i ght not know what hit you (or what YOU hit). Every situation is a little different and will require different t a c t i cs, but generally speak ing one shoul d always drive with extreme c a u t i on. If y o u drive defensively, c o n c e ntrate on what you are doing an d a1 w ays expect the unexpected, PLUMBING DISCOUNT FIXTURES & SUPPLIES 701 Broc st. N.
