Purse snatcher- -Canadeawide search ends in Brooklin Police Have Footsteps in the dark led to an un- nerving experience for Mrs. Rossalyn Thomson of 209 Rosedale Drive Whitby Monday night. Mrs. Thomson had lef ta BIair Park grocery store and was proceeding south on L u p i n Drive, when she be- came aware of being followed. She turned around to investigate and was robbed of her handbag. An unidentified passerby described the purse s na t cher as about 5'10" in heightwith long, dark, frizzy hair and as wearing blue jeans and a jacket. The passerby saw this person enter'a c a r and r e c orded the vehicle's l1ic- ence number. Besides $27. 15 in cash, Mrs. Thom son lost house keys, car keys and personal papers. Police are in- vestigating the incident. Police also report that as a follow up on information received, they were able to apprehend a man against whom the RCMP had issued a Canada-wide warrant. Michael John Gardner was arrested 10 p. m. S u n d ay night at a Brookl in h o m e and w a s s u bsequently turned over to the RCMP. Gardner, the sub- je c t of a dominion wide search, had violated parole.
