Page 8, Thursday, June 15, 1972, WHITBY FREE PRESS New Education Requirements for Real Estate Industry EricWinkler, Minister of Consumer Relations, has announced new govern- ment regulations specifying education requirements for persons entering the real estate industry. The requirements will be met by a series of courses leading to registrat- ion as salesmen or brokers. Sp e ak i ng about the courses, Mr. Winkler sa i d, "They have been intro- d u c e d to maintain a close correspon- dence between the demands of the real estatemarketand the ability of the real estate industry to meet them.." Thenew program will include an in- t r o ductory course mandatory for reg- istration as a salesman and a full Cer- tificate Program which must be passed by anyone seeking to become a branch office manager or broker. Broker appl i- cants will also face a course entitled Real Estate Administration before they can be registered. The courses will be taught at Com- muni ty Colleges by qual ified lecturers, and will have examinations with a re- quired p as s mark of 75 per cent. The introductory course and the Real Estate Administration course will become eff- e c t ive July 1, 1972 and the Certificate Program July t, 1973. So Councillor Vern MacCarl has asked council to approach Bell Tel- ephone about re- establishing an al ternate pl ace for W h i tby residents to pay their phone 'Ma Bell' bils. Whitby Man Kinsmen Governor At a recent Kinsmen convention at Niagara F a 1 I s, Mr. Clare Hewson of Whitby wa s elected Governor of Dis- trict # 18. The three-day convention took place at the Sheraton-Brock Hotel with over 450 couples in attendance. The highlight of t h e event was the Governor's Bal1 on Saturday night. As a new Governor Mr. Hewson must pr e s i d e over 55 Kinsmen clubs from B r i g h t on to Hudson Bay to Brampton and up to Sault St. Marie. Mr. Hewsonhas been in the Kinsmen for 14 years and dur ing that time he has held the positions of: President of the local Kinsmen club, Deputy Governor& Zone Cy stic Fibrosis Chairman. His term as a Governor will last for one year.
