At the same time his mates came through with their most potent hitting attack of the season when they hi t for ten safeties. The Legionaires The Legionaires had a rest from E. O. B. A. action on the vveekend and were instead involved in the first round of the Royal Canadian Legion Zone playoffs against Oshawa Red Barn 4-2 in a tight game which w as in doubt all the way. Fred Petryshyn, John Heffer, Ian Gilli s , Tim Twining and Doug Shearer each had singles, while Cam Murkar, the pitcher, l ed the club at the plate withapairof singles. In picking up his sixth win of the season, the Whitby left- hander had ten str ikeouts holding Bow- manville to three hits. The Canadian Tire Midgets lost an- other heart-breaker in extra innings, this one in Peterborough 9-8 which was broken up in the 1lth when Peterborough homered. The game was a see-saw af- fairwith theexcietment that comes with plenty of hitting and a series of miscues.
