Ladies and gentlemen, a development plan which was passed by Council, had been previously pledged to be returned to the adjoining land owners before going to Council. This samne plan was increased fromn 538 unîts in spite of, expressed opposition by the local citizens against the plan when it had 538 units. Why would a plan that proposed medium density, flot specifically designated as to type of development, proposed park land with a hole big enough to lose a house in it, be accepted by Council? Why were blocks of land, classified as future develop- ment, allowed to be passed with the plan, by Council, even though they were shown as blanks on the plan? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, - blanks. The record shows the incumbent mayor voted for ail that 1 have previously mentioned, which is not in keeping with bis previous election pledge of 1972, assuring be forced to leave home to earn a living, and our local businessmen wiil benefit from the controlled growth. 1 pledge that the Mayor's office, ail departments of City Hall, and City Council will be open to hear the voice and concern of Whitby residents. 1 will encourage ratepayers and other civic groups to participate in planning the direction of Whitby's future. My only vested interest in being Mayor is to ensure that this town will have a healthy, suitable environment for my cbildren and yours. I.WHITBY RIFLE CLUB The Whitby Rifle Club recently held it's annual out- door club competition at the Union Rod and Gun Club Range. Si.xteen junior and senior members took part in the competition.for the five trophies. Lynn Ballam won the Lad- ie's three position trophy wi- th a score of 708 out of a possible 800. Lynn also won the junior prone trophy with 381 out of 400. Phiip Mayer won the tyro trophy with 720 out of,800. Ron Alldred won the senior tbree position scoring 763 out of 800. Ron also won the 50 metre prone with a score of 189 out of 200. At the National Sporting Rifle Matches held in Win- nipeg in August, Ron Alldred made a great showing and brought honour to the Wbit- by club when he won a tliird in three position match sporting rifle, a third in the grand aggregate and was a member of the Ontario cham- pions team which came first against the other provincial teams from across Canada.
