Public transportation, as we aIl know, would be the logical answer. But, can we afford a public transit system? The answer is NO. At least, flot for the time being. Although William Davis, the Ontario Premier, is constantly battling for some kind of public transit system, the idea, as 1 see it, will neyer work. Simply, because'we keep making more and 'more cars and building less and less super-highways. First, something must be done to stop ail Big Four automakers frorn producing motor vehicles which greatly contribute to the existing traffic cha'os. But, if thîs cannot be done, then we should proceed with super-highway construction programs. Toronto must be the only city in the world with its shortest expressway. The Spadina Expressway, if m-- figures are right, is only two miles in length. including the ramp exits. It is a laughing stock for everyone to see and also the biggest eye-sore 1 have seen so far. The Don Valley Parkway served its purpose, 1 say. ten years ago. Today, the two-lane expressway is sadly outdated. Every tirne 1 take the Don Valley route, it practically takes me nowhere. For hours, 1 have been sitting in the middle of the road and cursing the traffie engineers.
