The preschoolers world is largely made up of play and because of this we stress the relationship be- tween mother and child in a play situation. A variety of play centres are available and the parent plans with the ch- ild in the various projects. The child is given the opportunity to choose for him or herself the. activity that attracts them and their parent is asked to play sup- portive and sensitive role. Play behaviour is commun- ication for preschoolers and the parent tries to understand some of the meaning behind YMCA Program Director le- the play. ads an hour discussion group The format of Let's Create with the parents of the Bro- Together was conceived a oklîn group. year ago and implimented at The program is often sup- St. John's the Evangelist in plimented by speakers and Whitby. The majority of the peo- ple, headed by Mr. Ron Mc- Eachern, were there to make sure council did not approve the Kendalwood area for mu- ltiple family dwellings. The Kendalwood area, on the ea- st side of the town behind K Mart is somewhat of a green beit area and the resi- dents living there were more than up in arms when it app- eared the Town Council was considering allowing multi- ple family dwellings to be built there. Council tossed the issue around and both sides of the story were heard including deputations from Mrs. Delor- es Holliday, Mr. McEachern- and Mrs. Szarka who appeared before council and said she really didn't have anything to add because the previous deputations had covered ev- erything. The issue of multiple fam- ily dwellings in the Kendal- wood area does not appear to be over yet and many people attending the council sessions Tuesday night vow- ed to fight until the area was once and for ail zoned for single family occupancy dwellings only. Another item that came back to haunt council Tues- day night was a letter sent out by the Administration committee which was a letter of intervention to the Can- adian Radio Television Cor- poration hearings in Ottawa to decide on the issue of stock transfers. The letter to the .CRTC from the Administration Co- mmittee was sent on behalf of the entire council and it stated that the Whit- by Town Council was un- happy with Cable TV pro- gramming because the coin- pany had failed to provide a studio and had failed to hire a program director for Whit- by. Deputation Jim Quail ap- peared before Council on behalf of Pine Ridge Cable and told the Council that Pine Ridge was "greatly dis- turbed" by the letter and that he was there to, "set the facts straight". Mr. Quail introduced him- self as the Program Director for Pine Ridge Cable TV in Whitby and told the Council that they and anybody else in the Town of Whitby were welcome to visit the studio at 143 Brock Street South and to make use of the facilities. During his speech to council he also elaborated on the programming that had been done in Whitby since the studio became functional. Councillor Livingstone sa- id he felt Pine Ridge had more than lived up to their committments in Whitby and Councillor Hobbs apologized to Mr. Quail and Pine Rige for what he feit was obvious- ly was injustice. In a unanimous vote, with Deputy Reeve John Goodwin being the only disenter, cou- ncil agreed to withdraw the intervention to the C.R.T.C- J THURSDAY; NOVEMBER Î5,1973 Free Press Photo Family Counseiior nas aiso while Mrs. Elizabeth Moore,
