Ed Szczur scored the lone goal for B.W. whîle Tom Smith replied for the home club. ,Whi1tby Minor Basebali Elects New Presi*dent Winston Muschett bas been namned the Pres. of the Whitby Minor Basebal Assoc. for 1974, succeeding Gordan Hanna. He was elected to the post at the annual meeting of the W.M.B.A. held Saturday in the Council Chamnbers of the Municipal Building. In taking over the office he becomes the fifth man to hold the position since the organization was formed in 1 969. Neil Murkar was the first Pres. of the association, holding the post in 1969 and 1970. Ken MacDonald followed in 1971. Mike McArthur was at the heim in 1972 and Gordan Hanna guided the group ini '73. The new Pres. bas been active in Whitby basebali silice coming to the community from Wexford. He has coached a club in the Tyke House League and has also held several important executive positions, acting as Tyke and Tee-Bail Convenor and as Sec'y of the W.M.B.A. The election of officers also saw Keith MacDonald chosen as Vice-Pres. for a second term. Jim Haley is the new Registrar and Geraid Robinson the Registrar in '73 becomnes Sec'y. Others elected were Bill Puchalski as Treas. and Neil Murkar as Director of Public Relations. Named to the ten man Directorate were: Doug Dolley, Alex Millier, Rod Fillier, Otto Gilks, Bill Hurlay, Don Kennedy, Bill Link, Dave Moore, Mike Pageau and Doug Underwood. The election of officers was conducted by Gerald Cox. A highiigbt of the meeting was the naming of John MacDonald as an Honorary Member of the W.M.B.A. for Life. The first person to receive the honour, Mr. MacDon- ald, bas been active on the Whitby basebail scene for nearly f'orty years and bas given faithfully of his time to the gamne and the boys of Whitby over that span of years. With the Annual Meeting the W.M.W.A. now swings into the busy schedule of preparations necessary to get the' sea- son underway and although May is still a long way off there is a lot of behind the scènes work to be done before the cry of "Play Bail". As far as their chances are, they are as good as any, since they have a very successful season behind themn, finishing their league in third place. In a recent Pee Wee Tournament in Llndsay, they camne out as "B" Championship winners after iosing their first encounter 1 - O dcspite shooting the opposition 27 - 5. The teamn spirit is high, and under the leadership of coach Peter Smithi and manager Les Wilson they wili make a good showing for the oid country town. Practically every parent and other supporter will accomn- pany the Pee Wee's on their journey and wish themn every success possible. Applicaeton by Pine Ridge Cable TV Limited, licensee of a cable television system serving Oshawa, Bowmanville, and Whitby, Ont. to transfer 37.5% of its common shares and 20.8% of its preferred shares, from W.J.E. Leask to Canadian Cablesystems Limited, and to transfer indirectly 37.5% of the common shares and preferred shares (through the tr.ansfer of ail the shares of Jarmain Teleservices Limited), to Canadian Cablesystems Limited. The Commission will expect the icensee companies to maintain on their respective boardsof di rectors the proportion of local representation indicated in the applications hereby approved. In connection with the cable television systems serving Kingston and Whitby. the Commission draws the attention of Canadian Cablesystems Limited to lis decisions 72-342 and 72-87 licensing these areas, and expects the Company to take aIl measures necessary to fulfil the expectations of the Commission expressed in these deci sion s.
