A few changes are planned NDP faces election debts Being in debt seems to be a growing fact of life in these inflationary times. So it is, too, with the Provincial New Democratic Party. Ms. Cornish, who mans the NDP Action Centre in Picker- ing Village, says that members are being canvassed, but private donations will also be accepted. "Under the new Elections Act for Ontario, people who give money to the party may get a tax break", she says. Cornish explains that -for the first $100 donation, 75 percent is deductible from provincial income tax. Over $100 is 50 percent deductible. According to the NDP worker, each riding associa- tion is responsible for at least $2,000 of the total sum. "Our problem is we have no reserves", Cornish adds.
