The co-ordinator will be paid a maximum of $10,500 per year, including fringe benefits, and wil be respon- sible for following up on the programs which have been initiated but flot completed, administering and co-ordi- natîng new and exîsting programs and exercising control over the centre, opened earlier this year., The province and the town will split equally the co-ordi- nator's salary. E. The Quality-Purity Award fer degree of excellence' is given' only after a rigid examina ion of the premises by a Dairy Queen inspector who checks interior and exterior appearance, condi- tion of food preparation areas and equipmfent, and over-ail cleanliness. Inspec- tions take place without previous notification to store owners. Mr. and Mrs. Beck received an engraved plaque which is prominently displayed' in their store. They have managed the Whitby Dairy Queen store for five years, -'and prior to that they leased a Dairy Queen outiet in Oshawa. For the Becks, the Dairy Queen business is a family affair. Ron' Jr. used to help in the store and now manages his own outiet in West Hill. Their older daughter, Betty, has taken Ron Jr.'s place and works with her parents in the Whitby store. Ron Beck Jr. received a Quality-Purity Award for his store late last season. The Beck's Whitby store has a staff of 20 in the peak sumnmer months and is open from February to December. In addition to running the Dairy Queen store, the Becks sponsor a local junior soccer ta.Seniors' prog ramfs resumneAug. 9 The Whitby Seniors Co- operating New Horizons Club will take a short breather be- fore resumning its activities on August 9.
