The Sing-a-thon wiit be held in the central mail of the shopping centre fromn 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to raise funds for a cultural exchange visit by the Singers to Austria, Switzer- land, Germany and Holtand in the summer of t1977. During the 12-hour mara- thon, severat local pianists and directors wilt be partici- pating, in addition to the choir's regular director Jim Ashley, and pianist Marg Webber., Among the guest directors are Mrs. Jan Kinsman, director of the Generai Motors Chorus and St. Gregory's Church Choir; Ross Metcatf, director of the Kingsview United Church Choir in Oshawa; Gayte Marlowe, director of the Harmony United Church Choir, of Oshawa; Harmen Siersma, a former rnember of the County Town Singers, and Faye Huitema. Guest pianists inctude Gayte Marowe; Henry Sing- Vanderkooi, organist at Uxbridge United Church;, and local entertainer Bey Smith. Aiso participating are thiree teen-age piano students: Stephen Toenjes and Peggy Crawforth of Whitby, and Betty Jo Keitz of Oshawa. Many local dignitaries and celebrities will be on hand as masters of ceremony, includ- ing Whitby's Mayor Jii Gartshore, Paul Bouclier oif CKLB radio. and TFerry Glecoff and Tomi Gibney of CETO TV. Williain Newman, MPP, Mvinister of Agriculture has consented to authienticate each sponsor sheet, signifying compIction of the County a-thon Town Singers' first Sing-a- thon. Choir memnbers are distri- buting spynsor sheets through- out the commnunity. Anyone rnay pledge any am-ount hie wishes to sponsor the choir for its I '-hour performance. For example, a pledge of SI1 per hour woLJld make a total of SI2. The Singers wvilI bc siiiging in sits, anid have a repertoire of 32 songs. This suspense play has enjoy- ed many successful runs in London and New York, with the author, Emlyn Williams in the principal ro le. The Whitby Theatre Company production will be staged October 28, 29 and 30 at the Centennial Building theatre starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at Middleton's Book Store, Dundas Street West, or ut the theatre on the niglits of the performance.
