In a recent letter to council, S. A. Hayden, fire protection and general purpose committee, wrote "In view of the action taken by the Town of Newcastle and the City of Oshawa in contributing towards this organization's valuable inter- municipal service, the com- mittee wishes me to express their regret that the Town of Whitby, in adopting the re- commendation of the Opera- tions Committee, have not given their support to the ongoing efforts of the City of Oshawa Marine Rescue Association to provide a safe boating 'atmosphere in the Whitby - Oshawa - Newcastle area". It is possible that Oshawa Council will tell COMRA to discontinue patrolling Lake Ontario at Whitby.
