The Council of the Regional Municipality of Durham have recently adopted o progro M.,to establish a uniform water rote. This water rate wilI become uniform throughout the Region, and is being phased in over 5 years. A schedule of the new odjusted water rates wiII be included with your next billing. in previous years Brooklin water users paid 2 milis on their tax bill for water and this charge hos been removed from their 1976 taxes and is incorporated into the charge. SANITARY SEWER COSTS to the Urban Service Area The Council of the Regionol Municipality of Durham also adopted a program to establish o uniform rate for the cost of the sonitary sewer system.These costs were previously charged on the tox bill in the Urban Service Area. In 1976 this amount was removed-from the local tax bill and is now charged on the water bill. In 1975, the average residential unit contributed $80.00 to the cost of sonitary sewers as o portion of the tax bill. Under the new uniform rate system..the average charge for sanitary sewers wilI be approximately $68.00., This charge will vclry directly with the amount of woter consumned and the new sewer rate schedule will be included with your water bill The fult impact of 17 mitis reduction for sanitary sewers in the Urban Service Area was not reftected in your tax bill because education costs increosed by 1 1 milis. SU MMARY On the average, sanitary sewer costs have been reduced by $12.00 and water costs have been increased on the average by $8.00.
