WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3,1976, PAGE 19 Shea brothers open trust company From Page 15 Carrying on the theme of their existing real estate company, brothers Tom and Bob Shea plan to promote their special brand of person- alized service into the trust field. The formation of the new company is another big step in the successful business career of the Shea brothers. A quick look at the history of Thos, N. Shea Ltd. shows the real estate division growing from a three-man sales force work- ing out of one office In Markham in 1956 to a company now employing 225 sales associates with an estimated 1976 sales volume of $100,000,000. The mortgage division, established in 1968, is currently placing in excess of $4,000,000 monthly and its 1976 volume is expected to approach $50,000,000. "We believe that our new trust company will be able to broaden the scope of our services to our customers, while at the same timecreate a more solid base for our operation", said Tom Shea, the older of the two brothers and founder of Thos. N. Shea Ltd.21 years ago. "The name 'Family Trust' seemed a natural when we had two brothers involved in a company that featured a slogan "the Home Folks who care about people", said Robert Shea, President of the new company. "Family Trust offices will be based in Markham, not Toronto, to underline our plans to lend in the small urban centres - in the province", said Mr. Tom Shea. "Naturally, we will eventually be represented wherever our. existing real estate offices are located, in addition to working through our network of mortgage agents throughout Ontario". The Chairman continued, "The future program is to allow for the integration of Thos. N. Shea Ltd., Realtor, with Family Trust Corpora- tion, using our unique family symbol. to help the public identify the marriage of the two companies. Fanily is going to relate to the public and our own staff in many ways: for starters we will encourage lending policy for families in smaller communi- ties not already serviced by larger lending institutions. From the point of view of our own staff, our new company will continue to foster the close personal relations with the two of us and our senior staff, just as exists in our real estate company". When asked why he started a Trust Company, Tom Shea replied, "the experience we gained with the Mortgage Division of our real estate agency encour- aged us to incorporate our own institution where we could pioneer lending policies specifically tailored to the smaller urban com- munities. Family Trust is committed to this Policy of lending in small towns. At the sane time we hope to attract private funds from the same areas to purchase our Guaranteed Investment Certificates. Family Trust Corporation will raise its funds through the sale of Guaranteed Investment Certificates rather than through savings deposits". AUDREY MOORE REALTOR 102B BYRON ST. S. Whitby 668-6111 579-1822 THE REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF DURHAM TO ALL BROOKLIN WATER CONSUMERS: THANKSI The water main cleaning program has been completed for the second time in the last six years. Cleaning took longer than expected because of a minor problem at the Regional Water Supply Plant. We wish to apologize to those customers who suffered through long periods without water and to those who at times experienced turbid water, because of the cleaning process. As a result of the foam swabbing operation, our Maintenance personnel removed extraordinary amounts of silt and foreign materials from the mains. We now enjoy water of good quality and have a better charted and serviced waterworks distribution system. Our staff wishes to express appreciation for the interest and patience shown by the community and in particular, for assistance given when searching for "lost" connections and valves. R. F. Richardson, P. Eng. Commissioner of Wprks i
