Free Press Photo Moderator visits St Mark's Church A message of togetherness and sharing the common probiemis of the world was expressed by the Rt. Rev. Wilbur K. Howard, moderator of the United Church of Canada when he visited St. Mark's United Church Sunday. Dr. Howard, who was a special guest at the service celebrating the lSOth anniver- sary of the founding of St. Mark's congregation, chose the topic of "we are one" as therne of his anniversary address. The Ephesians formula is "we are one" he said. "Taken seriouslv. it can change the world. We are al involved in what is going on on this planet. There are four billion people on this planet. Are we going to be one or are we going to be fragmented?" Dr. Howard pointed out that we ail share the problems of the world, such as illiteracy, poverty, polution, population growth and shortage of water supplies. He further pointed out that "we are one" when we think of the other churches in the world, for we are al one in God's congregation. "You can discover your own oneness in Christ and you have a new freedom", hie said. "Don"t let anyone tell you the church is dying; it isn't", said Dr. Howard. "But we have quite a few church inembers who have flot corne alive7 for Christ". Dr. Howard stated that the Bible had the sound of chal- lenge and confidence in its words, but since the church is existing in a changing world the church has to change and cope with change. "The church has to change somne of its outer trappings", hie said. "There is one body and one hope and one spirit held out in God's cail to you", lie said.
