He led from the beginning and ended up with 985 votes to 514 for Jack Woodward. - Mr. Carson said the big thing for the North Ward is to sec that the secondary plan study gets-, lots of citizen input. He said he was work- ing.on a citizens' committee to meet on a weekly basis with the planners, to act as a sounding board, and he wants rnonthly public meetings on the plan. Mr. Carson also said he wants an all-out effort for the location of a youth drop-J -in centre in Brooklin, and wilI "push for sewers as soon as we can get them so we can get senior ci tizens' apartmen ts". Public Sehool In the race for the two Whitby seats on the Durham Board of Education, David Sirns and Jim Speers came out the winners, each with more than 2,000 votes. Unofficial figures indicate the following:' David Simns, 2,902; Jim Speers, 2,300; John Buchann, 1,971; Beverly Bicknell, 1,403; Aline Currier, 1,251; Ken Brown, 1,224; Meivin PeIt, 929; and Frank Sugden, 397. Until 9:30 p.m., it looked like Mr. Buchanan had a chance to become one of the sehool trustees, but after that time, he began to trail behind Mr. Sirns and'Mr. Speers. Separate School In the vote for the two seats on the Durham Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board, Chuck Poche led the poli with 975 votes, followed by Andy Miller with 742. Lou Goverde lost out, with 524 votes. Unofficial totals,' including Brock and Scugog, give the seats to Mr. Roche, with 998 votes and Mr. Miller with 759. Mr. Goverde received a total of 537. For the separate school representative on the Durham Board of Education, Gerry Noonan won in Whitby with 819 votes to 595 for John D'Costa. The final resuit, includîng, Ajax, Pickering, Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge gives the seat to Mr. Noonan with i1,672 votes, to i1,441 for Mr. D'Co$ta. Top bull purchased Kahn Brothers, of Brooklin, have purchased the top priced Holstein bull at a recent sale in Jerseville, Ont. At the Dunlea sale, Nov. 9. the Kahn Brothers purchased Dunlea Blue-Boy for S 17,000. They intend to expori the bull to West Germany. Lions don ate to retarded The Lions Club of Whitby recently made a cash donation to Aldon School in Ajax. Thie sehool, for trainable retarded children of kinder- garten age through to 21 years oid, is run by the Durham Board of Education. The money will be used those who, because of illness or other reasons are unable to couic to the library. The staff will deliver and pick up books and records, large print books and talking books.
