Hold it. Now that you've read the front page news -and looked at the pic tures -. here's something that will grab you. Guaranteed - sure fire. One thing you mnust agree on - merely what one man (or wornan) cari do - so can you, right? O.K. Here we go. In one word I wiîî reveal how you, yes you, can disarm a nation without speaking that',word. How? Like this. SMILE. Sure-fire. Guaranteed. Jimmny Carter did il. Hoid it. He's sinial stuff when vou think about it. Television and WHITBY1 movie stars have known for years (once their agent§-gavý tiin a hint). Don't get nie wrong. Ugly is in too. IHave you ever seen so mrny ugiy kissers looking at you from your TV screen Iately? Mani, thiere are some damidies! But SMI LES aire disarming, totaiiy and absoiuteiy. Wiien I aîm-ost bumiped into Jini Gartshore on the Whitby four corners recently, he recovered rapidiy, and you guessed it -- SMILED. I was compîeteîy at ease as we chatted away. To succeed in>life, be it business or socially -SMILE. l'Il bet our Pet (Pierre Eîiott Trudeau) was disarmed and captivated by a SMILE when he was escorting Barbàra Streisand prior to his marriage. But Margaret won out, and l'Il bet it was the sainie thing -- ber SMILE. Strange thing about smiles, they take Iess effort than frowns, but man they cost an arin and a leg to obtain and maintain. There's no way I wouîd want to be a dentist, but they sure have a weapon on hand. They can helpyou becomne charming and handsome (if you're a maie), beautiful and romantic (if you are a female). Here's another grabber about this SMILE business. Cigarette smoking is taboo if you want heaîthy, dlean and white looking teeth. Coffee and tea also are eneniies to watch out for. No need, as the jingle says "wondcr where the veiiow wen t". -Not. -that is, if you make a friend FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY2DECEMBER 8, 1976, PAGES5 instead of a monster out of your local dentist. Recently, a poor kid wrote a pathetie letter to Ann Landers telling her about the space he had between his two front teeth. W'hat a. disaster! I went through the eariy years the sane way. Ann told the 1 1 year old, why be a funny for other kids (and aduits), ask your folks to get the dentist' to fix the problem. Man, that's good advice. Today, I have practically ail my choppers -- apd no gap at the front. As the -jingle says "I've got my SMILE back". No matter what age you are, your teeth can do a lot for you (no. pun intended, everyone knows we use them for eating). Wheri they are dlean, they feel dlean. And when they are white, they feel great. The first time 1 did my talk show on television 1 was intrigued by mny smile on the monitor. Why shouldn't I be?' I had to work long and hard, to.. afford to pay the dentist to put my mouth in order. Plus I had 'to make time for six sittings before 1 started to get the SM îLE 1 have to-day. I love to SMILE, but the truth is that some days it seems there is littie 'to SMILE about. Most of ail, 1 enjoy seeing the old folks SMILE. It's usually spontaneous and genuine. So as Bill Cosby would say "Let's hit the bullseye -- stop frowning -- no more worried looks -- SMILE, SMILE, SMILE". Gee you look great. Can you remember such a nutty season? As i >f we're being punished, ail of a sudden we-re subjccted 10 triai by water - snow up to our bobby sox - triai by politician in the form of candidates ail over the place makîng more promises that you can shake a stick at and, worst of ail,'in midst of this madness, trying to get sonie Christmnas shopping doue. 1 tell you it's aimost more than I cari bear. 0f course we spend ail fail thinking thiat winter is coming and preparing, right?? Wrong! As usuai I did flot care to think much about winter and its coming until rny ski magazines startçd arriving. Then 1 got in the mood for winter and decided it wvas tume I put away fail things like the lawn.mower and rakes etc. Our first snow fail wasn't much but it was enough to jog me into action. i decided to get the yard cleaned up und the summer and fail stuff put away before we_ got hit bv more snow. 0Of couirse in the back of P.
