There are 20 subdivisions in various stages of approval, of which 16 are expected to reach signing of subdivision. agreemnent of zoning bylaw app 1roval- by the Onitario Municipal Board in 1977. Work on negotiations regard- ing architectural control and site plans, for most will continue into 1979 and 1980. In addition, there are 15 subdivision proposais not yet approved by council, most of which will have plan process- ing, public meetings and staff research in 1977. A few are expected toreceive committee and council approvals this, yerSixteen special study areas will be deait with in 1977. Ail will go through'the plan processing and public meet- ing stages this year, and counicil and committee approvals are expected for the downtown, Brock North, Du~das~Ad , -- ; udas- Garden, Dundas.Coêhrane, Brooklin and Macedonian Village studies in 1977. The p lanning department , hopes to receive provincial approval of ail study area plans by the *end of 1979 or early 1980. 1"the> completion of the special -study areas, which have been outstanding since June 174, is -essential in order to complete the Officiai Plan fof. the Town of Whitby, co-ordinate development pro- jects which are expected to be initiated in the near future, and enable the town to successfully prepare a new implementing Restricted Area Zoning Bylaw", says the planning director's report. A number of special pro- jects will also receive the attention of the planning departmnent in 1977. Early in the year the staff will initiate a work program to develop a new zoning bylaw which will implemnent the town's officiai plan and the region's officiai plan when approved. Mr. Tunney expecti the whole process to take three years before it receives 0MB approval. In the first year, there will be monthly meetings with the town solicitor and other legal advisors to prepare the groundwork for this bylaw.
