Since the spring of 1968, Miss Webber lias acconipanied the choir at, hundmeds of concerts, and hias become a fanîiliar personalîty along ,vith Director Jini Ashley, and Masters of Ceremonies stich as Chiarlie Rycroft and Thomas Gibney. But the County Town Singers are ,only a part of Marg Webber's musical involvement in Whitby. Shie is a music teacher, church organist and choir director, director of a maIe chorus, and pianist for the Rotary Club. <1vI4usic is my wliole life", says Miss Webber. Mamg herself becanîe a niember of St. Mark's choir at thie age of 12. At five she started taking piano tessons, and studied for 10 years. "I can play by ear", shie says. I neyer took a nmusic exan4, but 1 took Conservatory courses up to Grade 10 piano". Miss Webber studied music under four well-known Whitby music teachers: Winnifred Scott, Kathleen Rowe, Marion Willianis andi Doris Beaton. ln 1965, Miss Wcbber becamie assistant to Doris Beaton, organist at St. Mark's United Church, and in 1973 shie succeerled Mrs. Beaton as organist and choir director. Orie of Miss Webber's pro- jects as organist was to forn a male churchi choir callcd "The Marksmen" in 1973. This choir, of nine men from the church's mixed choir, lias perforned at special functions such as the Myrtle and Raglan United Church anni- versaries, and the I Sth anniv ersary of St. Mark's Churcli in 1976. In 1971, Miss Webber was asked by the Whiitby Rotary Club to succeed the late Robin Nicholson as the club's piqnist, and thus became the says Singers 'panit first womnen to attend meet- ings of this alI-male club. Her duties for the Rotary Club include playing tlie Rotary Gracc, O'Canada, Hlappy Birthiday to club mienibers, and ties for tie club sing-songs, every T1ues- day at noon.
