Bey spoke about the 'Block Parent Prograrn'. The .idea of the program, for those who don't know, is to have a safe place for children to go in case of an ernergency. Even if a child is being bullied he/she can go to a 'Block Parent' for help The motto for the program is 'People Helping People'. Make it effective become involved. On Thursday, December 1, the Block Parent Group will be conducting a 'Cake Decorating Show'. They will be making ail kinds of goodies for the festive season. Tickets are $1 .00 each. With the Christmas season drawing dloser with every passing day, the spirit cornes out in us ail, by having special little things happening. The first to comne to mind is the 'Jolly Holy Mart'. The JoIly Holly Mart is a special type of bazaar. The date, don't forget, is Saturday November 26. The time will be fromn 2 p.m. tili 4 p.m. You'11 be able to visit such places as; Scrooge's Attic, the Kris Kringle Korner Store, then take a rest wit h a bite to eat at the Elf's Eatery, but don't forget to get some goodies to go from Mrs. Santa's 'BY FREE PRESS Bakery. The Whitby Public Works Department, who donate the tree, have stated that due to vandalism they will not suppiy iights for the said tree. Now, 1, don't think that a Christmas Tree is complete without lights. 1 don't think that we will be able to get to the ones who are steaiing them - so - we either have no lights - or - the group '74 will be pleased to take donations of bulbs. Whitby Works Dept., said they will supply the strings if we supply the lights. Think about it. 1Isn't Christmas for the littie ones. Make each year better than the last. The winners of the Jelly Bean Couinting Contest are - first prize - Tim Aima who guessed 450, second Elizabeth Bonner, 425 and third Steven Wagg at 467. The actuai amount was 445. Great counting kids. As fiïrst prize minner, Tim received the jar of jelly beans. Elizabeth and Steven each received a book for their guesses. The students of Anderson Collegiate are putting on a comnedy by Bernard Shaw, cailed 'Arms and the Man'. Tickets are $2.00 for aduits and $1.25 for students, and obtainabie at the door. The Brookiin Horticultural Society will be hlding their annuai 'pot luck' supper on Wedrsday November 23 at 6:1 5 p.m. Along with the dinner, elections will take place also awards for the years flower arrangement winners. Everyone is welcome to attend. The Durham Regiona YMCA is offering a Christmas Craft Program for youngsters three to five years of age. The Pro- gam will be held at Meadowcrest School, in Brooklin, on Saturday mornings at 10:15S tillIl1: 15 a.m. Classes start on December 3 an& end December 17. It is for three Saturdays.
