No woman bas ever held the post. Mrs. Toil was born in Toronto March 16, 199, and moved to Whitby at the, age of one month. Her father was Graydon Goodfellow, publisher of the Whitby Gazette and Chron- icle. She *graduated in 1935, but re- turned ini 1936 to take a degree in muic. She graduated from the Univers- ity of Toronto in 1937. In 1935 she was editor of the school yearbook, and won-,the Governor General's Medal for highest standing in her graduating. class. She also had the highest standing in, Latin and Frenchi. In the early 1 940s she married LeRoy Toit, who was a well known Toronto photo- grapher who specialized in graduation portrait'. He and his brother were also noted for being-world travellers and presented4 filmed travelogues througiiout Ontario. Mrs. Toit was deeply in- volved i churcli work throughout lier liée. Her husband's father and grand- father were niinisters at the Whitby United Church (now St. Mark's United) in 1934 and 1935.
