Mr. Brown was on the maintenance staff- of the Durham Region- Board of Education until bis retirement seven years ago. He was a member of West- minster United Church in Whitby, where he was active in the church choir and was a steward. He is survive.d by bis wife, the former Mary Madeline Ward, whom he married at Oshawa in 1927; two sons, Benson of Belleville and Larry of Brooklin; one daughter, Mrs. Finlay' Scrimshaw (B3arbara) of Belleville, and eight grandchildren. Mr. Brown is also survived by-. one brother, Ross -of Oshawa, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Parsons (Vera) of Guil Lake Sask., and Mrs. Richatd*. Adams (Dorothy) of Whitby. He was predeceased byone brother, Frederick, and two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice 1Iuff and Miss Charlotte Brown. The funeralý was held March 31 at W. C. Town Funeral, C hapel, Rev. Erie Mcllwain officiating. Inter- ment followed . in Mount Lawn'Cemetery, Whitby. Funeral services for a for- mer member, of the Whitby Ontario'ProvIncial Police de- tachment were held in Barrie, March 30. L.N. "Les" Patterson, staff sergeant at Whitby from November 1971 to Noveniber 1974, died, at bis home on' Krosno Boulevard, Pickering, of an apparent heart attack, March 26. He was ý57 years old.
