The R-40 Club is a social club for past Kinsmen. Under the rules of the Kins- men Club, the, age limit for Kinsmen memnbership is 40. At a meeting in the Chalet Restaurant, April 19, 28 past Kinsmen agreed - to become members of the K-40 Club, and about 10 to 15 more are expected to join by the time the K-40 formation night is held at the Legion Hall May 16. Officens of the K-40 Club are: Murray Silver, presi- dent; Gord Hawes, vice- president; Jim Ross, secre- tary-treasurer; and Harold Hughes and George Carr, directors. Anyone who is a past mem- ber of the Whitby Kinsmen Club and wants to join the K-40 Club may contact any of these officers. The formation of a K-40 Club in Whitby was a project of Chuck Hughes, Past Pres- ident of the Whitby Kinsmen Club. The Whitby Kinsmen Club is the town's second-oldest service club, having formed in 1942. The Whitby Community Care office, which opened Feb. 1, reports 43 clients and 70 volunteers onf ile as of March 31. Durîng March, 39 seniors were served and 22 volunteers were active, says Mr. Johnston. In the two months of February and March, there were 92 transportation as- signments for a total of 862 miles. There were 13 friendly visits, 13 financial counsel- ling cases, three catis for home'maintenance, and one cali for home help for a total of 122 assignments, says Mr. Johnston. Mr. Johnston reported that haîf the volunteers in Whitby are senior public and high sehool students, and Whitby is the only Community Care office in the region providing financial counselling, includ- ing income tax assistance for shut-ins.
