The Heber Down Conser- vation Area will be the site of evening film and slide pro- grams on Saturdays, Tues- days and Thursdays dom- mencing at dusk. Construction of a new ga te- bouse at tbe Heber DoWn campsite bas just been completed. The gatebouse Wil be used as a location to register campers after tbey have picked out their sites. It will be staffed seven days a week during the days and evenings. The Pringle Creek Pre- liminary Engineering study was presented ta the conser- vation autbority recently by the engineering firm of Totten Sims ubicki Assoc- iates,, and came before the, Town of Whitby operations committee in January. The study, determined areas ýof flood bazard and critical erosion and also evaluated alternative remedialworks programns ta alleviate or minimize these problems. Recommended costs and, fundlng responsi- biities were also included. 'An inventory and guide ta outdoor education sites in the conservation authority was produced during the summer of 1M7, and copies are avail- able ta the public at, the CLOCA office, ÃŽ650 Dundas Street East, at a cost of $3. On May 12 the1 camp- ground at the Heber Down Conservation Area opened ta the public'witb 50 serviced sites available at a. charge of $6 per night or $30 per week, witb a baif rate for senior citizens. In addition ta camping,, the Heber Down area offers a diverse natural environmnent of forests, creeks, sands and picnic area for camp and day use. There is also a self guiding nature trail in the conservation area. Approximately 30,000 white spruce and red pine seedlings will be planted this summer in the 13 conserva- tion areas operated by CLOCA. The autbority will also be planting 2,000 somne- what older trees (four ta séven years)1 obtained from A&1-- emjr Arek area.
