Under the new setup, the new director of develop- ment, when he is appointed, will report directly to regional council through Chairman Walter Beath. Mayor Gartshore, who co- sponsored the motion t'O Split the departments, said the development director wil not have to "go through the whole process of committees. sessIon bookkeé departments will give a new impetus to efforts to attact industry to the region, he said Prio ýto last Wednesday's deiinMayor Gartshore had been initiating talks with residential developers and the Whitby Chamber of Commerce, with a hope of organizing a program to bring industry to Whitby. and council to get something.
