The Retail Merchan ts Association heid a, breakfast meeting on Thursday, September 21, to discuss pl ans' for a Christmas promotion, and if indications thus far are significant, it's going to be a crackerjaýck. The most important con- clusion reached at the meeting was that the merchants cannot run a major promotion them- selves. To this end, the president of a national Toronto-based promotion company was in attendance at the meeting to discuss a professional promotion whi ch would encompass as much of the retail market in Whitby as possible. The Christmas promotion for downtown Whitby will be launched on the Saturday of the Santa Claus parade in our town. A committee was appointed to look into the prospects of building a merchants' float to partici- pate in the parade. Follow- TIIE CORPORATION 0F THE!
