THEATRICAL PRODUCTION Neil Simon's successful comedy, 'The Prisoner of Second Avenue' will. be presented by the Whitby Theatre Company from Nov. 8 to 11 at 8 p.m. at the Whitby Centennial Building. A free performance for senior citizens will be held Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. The play is directed by Terrill Stewart, who will be remembered for his perfor- mance as the messanger in last season's production of 'God's Favorite.' Appearing in this some- times tender, sometimes hilarious comedy are: Joan. Rundie, Barbara Farrow, John Green, Carole MacNeil, Eric Gareau, Jean Hender- son, David Broughton and Julie Brierly.' The play is produced by Jim Walker, set design by Terrill Steward and set construction by Paul Spencer. CHARITY DINNER DANCE Thirteen Durham Region chapters of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority are pro- viding a dinner and dance Nov. il at Zolly's Forum in the Oshawa Centre. Cock- tails are at 6:30 'p.m. and buffet dinner at 7:30 p.m.. followed by dancing to the music of the Brian Larter Trio. All proceeds of this dinner-dance will go to charity. SOCIAL PLANNING The Social Planning Council of Oshawa-Whitby will host members of the Boards of the Social Planning CounecilstfAjax- Pickering, Newcastle, and Scugog when it meets in Oshawa on Nov. 7. The new executive director of the Ontario Welfare Council, Elwood Springman, will attend this meeting to speak on the O.W.C. and current social issues. A report prepared by the O.W.C. on the adequacy of welfare allowances will also be'on the agenda for this meeting.
