To manly >liquor licences says Drumm Councillor Joe Drumm is concerned that there are too many establishments -with liquor licences in Whitby, and liquor licences are too easy to get. Despite Councillor Drumm's concern, council recently allowed a liquor licence for a pizza restau- rant, being constructed on Dundas Street East near Anderson Street. Councillor Drunmm com- mented that 10 years ago it used to be a privilege to get a liquor licence, but it is not now. The Liquor Licence Board of Ontario must give final approval for liquor licences, but the town coun- cil is asked for its opinion as part of the legal process. Councillor Drumm expr- essed concern about. small restaurants in neighbour- hood plazas being granted licences to serve alcoholic beverages. WATERCOLOR EXHIBITION An exhibition by the mem- bers of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor will be held at the Whitby Arts Station Gallery Feb. 2 to 25. The exhibition will include 35 watercolors by such artists as John Bennett, Ray Cattéll, Julius, Griffith, Mercedes Horne, Gery Puly and Osvald Timmas; Twenty-five artists will be represented in the exhibi- tion, which is organized to travel to three Ontario galleries.
