Clerk Regional Municipality of Durham 605 Rossland Road East Whitby, Ontario Whi*tby plant Part -of provincial la During a discussion on the Corbett Creek sewage treat- ment plant deveiopment the Region of Durham heard that the plant located in Whitby. is provincially funded. Regional Councillor Alan Dewar stated that the Oshawa-Whitby water con- trol plan wiil take in a "huge area" in the Town of Whitby and the City of Oshawa. 'The development of the Corbett Creek plant which is situatèd in the eastern area of Whitby will help the de- velopment of new housing on the area, said Regional Coûncillor John Aker. He pointed out that Whitby- Oshawa-Courtice is an area for new housing develop- ment under "the Provinces's OHAP Plan." The extending of water and sewer services to the Courtice area "is al part of the package deai."l He said there are "con- tracts for two subdivisions" which at the time of' the Regionai Council meeting had not been signed but were scheduled for signing by February 21. He said the Water, Sewer and Waste Disposai Budget Committee are caîling for tenders from March 10 to 17. The tenders are important to the con clusion of a further agreement with the Pro- vince.
