Of that number, 340 were allowed to donate blood. For such a successful clinic, many vol- unteers are needed. Follow- ing is a list of those volun- teers involved in Wednes- day's clinie, compiled by Joyce Cox, the Blood Donor chairman. McDonald's Restaurant s.pplied the coffee. Miracle Mart donated the cookies and other groceries. Whitby Legion donated the hall and the Legion ladies gave the use of their kitchen supplies. Ken Stratton of the Whitby Kinsmen looked after radio and T.V. advertising. Brooklin Kinsmen organ- ized car pools from the Brooklin area. Police said a door to a women's apartment at 888 Glen Street was forced open and the apartment ran- sacked and damaged. A quantity of jewellery was stolen, but no estimate has been placed on the loss, police said. Charged with breaking and entering are Steven David Hilts, 18, of 914 Hutchi- son Avenue; Daniel William Purko, 19, of 417 Byron Street South; James S. Traquiar, 20, of 109 Dovedale. Otter Creek to get park Park development for the Otter Creek subdivision was announced recently by the Whitby Recreation Depart- ment. A 7.3-acre park at the west end of the subdivision will include 'a soccer field, a small baseball diamond and a creative play area. Cost of developing these facilities is estimated at $50,000. A creative play area and a natural toboggan run will be installed in the 4.6-acre park at the subdivision's east end at a cost of $20,000, and a $7,000 pedestrian bridge will be built over the Lynde Creek. Two tennis courts and a creative play area will be included in D'Hillier Park when it is developed at a cost of $52,400. Charged with theft under $200 are John Spratt, 18 of 338 Lyndeview Drive; Vernon Hiller, 18, of 42 Heber Down Crescent, Brooklin; Paul Hendricks, 18, of 300 Coch- rane Street and John Volpe, 17, of 62 Bagot Street, Brooklin. Jeweller exhibits Whitby jewellery make Nancy Steele is one of four- teen artists of the Durham Region who are exhibiting their work at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa from April 4 to 24. Oshawa Mayor Jim Potti- cary will officially open the exhibition at 8 p.m. April 10. Special Guests will be the mayors of the communities in Durham Region where the artists reside.
