PAGE 2, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 210 1979, WHITBY FREE PREýSS Riegion being advertîsed for $1OOOO but flot ail councillors are pleased Several members of the Regional Council of DÎurham,' have objected to the $10,000 eApenditure for radio adver- tisement campaign, to pro- mote the Region of Durham. They wanted to know what good the radio promotion was doing Durham Region and what municipalities were covered by the cam- paign. Regional Chairman Walter Beath replied that the radio promotional program in- cludes Oshawa, Whitby, Newcastle and the areas in the northern part of the Region, he said. The promotional program is heard three days a week and is 60 seconds in length. The promotional spot for Durham Region is heard in the mornings "at a time when a number of interested people would be listening,.to their radios. The programn has been effective so far and there is a great deal of validity in paying forsuch a radio program. It is bringing in many equiries and several prospects to various parts of the Region including Oshawa and Whitby." The $10,00 account for radio advertising was ap- proved by the Regional council members without further questions at the last February meeting of the Council.
