Yacht Club is'offering yo ut h sailing program for the summer mon ths The Whitby Yacht Club Junior Corne Sail program announced today their spe- cial sali instruction course for the months of July and August, an opportunity to learn the fun. of saiiing under skilled leadership. Open to any boy or girl ini Durham Region, ages 9 to016, the course-ii-lasd i 6'the Canadian Yachting Associa- tion graded levels of instruc- tion leading from beginner Whitby Sail One crest up to the advanced Bronze Sali Five. Instruction is by qualified CYA instriictor and CYA assistant instructors, al skilled young sailors who have passed their blue, or green levels at the CYA special training seminars. These skilled instructors wil teach new sailors the fine arts of, boat handling, proper sailing, rules of the road, proper knots, weather condi- tions and seamanship. From 9:30- a.m. to 3:30 p.rn. daily, from Monday to Friday, the sailing instruc- tien will be given at the Whitby Junior Yacht Club clubhouse and using the Junior docks. Optimists and Albacores are the boats used for the sailing experience. These are International one- design boatis. STwo safety and instruction boats, an inflatable or -a Boston Whaler, accompany the fleets. Emphasis is on boating safety. Special racing events and regattas are popiuIar addi- tions "to the program. The courses start July 3 for a total of eight weeks. Rec- ommended are two week sessions and these can be continued for longer if desired so as to advance- to higher CYA sail levels.
