The reason for the sudden interest is that Pepsi Caps will be helping make life a lot easier for the handicapped in Metropolitan Toronto. Now and through June 21, every pound of Pepsi and Diet Pepsi Caps deposited in special bins at Miracle Food Mart Stores will be worth $5 to PHIACS. a non-profit, ganization that helps Metro's handicapped. Miracle Food Marts from Oshawa to Miss- issauga, including Metropo- litan Toronto, are participa- ting in the campaign. PHIACS represents the Physically Handicapped In- dependent Advancement Community Services. The primary task of PHIACS is providing an affordable, reliable trans- portation service for Metro's handicapped. A year ago, the organization had just one van in service. TOY MAKING CONTEST In the International Year of the Child, the Whitby Historical Society is sponsor- ing a toy making contest with the theme "Ask a Grandma or a Grandpa." This contest is open to all children up to 16 years of age, who, with the help of a grandma or a 'grandpa, make a toy that their grand- parents played with many years ago. SPRING CAROUSEL BAZAAR The St. John's CWL will be holding a Spring Carousel Bazaar April 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the gymnasium of Denis O'Connor High School.
